Beautiful beaches, lively nightlife, and unparalleled five-star luxury resorts make Mexico one of the best honeymoon destinations in the world. It's an ideal spot for newlyweds looking to start a marriage on a fun note (imagine chilling on white-sand beaches with a margarita in hand) or celebrate an important anniversary for a romantic vacation in the Yucatan to remember. Mexico boasts plenty of opportunities to relax by the water and explore the land. Snorkeling and scuba diving adventures are available through many of the all-inclusive resorts. There's also world-class cuisine, day beds beneath cabanas, and shops to explore. But each area has its character and attractions. The Yucatán Peninsula bordering the Caribbean Sea boasts enough activity to keep you busy all week, along with plenty of room to relax and enjoy romance in The Yucatan.

Merida

Merida maintains its small-town charm and authentic culture. It’s considered the epicenter of Mayan culture in the Yucatan Peninsula night-time strolls through lively-yet-quaint Centro Historico (Historic Downtown), an every-night romantic activity. Paseo de Montejo is Merida’s most beautiful street. It is a two-mile-long, tree-lined street where the old meets the new. Along Montejo, you’ll find historical monuments, hip bars, sidewalk cafes, and Merida’s historic, European-style mansions built in the 1900s.

Uxmal

Uxmal is a historical site in the Yucatan. The name Uxmal is Mayan for "Three times built." This comes from the main pyramid in the area, which was built on existing structures. The ancient ruins seem to come out of nowhere, and the main Pyramid of the Magician rises well above the tree line so you can see for miles in every direction. It was occupied by different royal families until 1450. This happened when the League of Mayapán, a political band of city-states, ended. Uxmal was an important site of worship for the rain god Chaac. All along the  Pyramid of the Magician are carvings representing the rain god.

Kabah

Kabah is one of the few Maya settlements in the area that has retained its original name (meaning 'the powerful hand'). Second, only to Uxmal in the Puuc Region, this is a hugely impressive sight, spread out on both sides of the main road, though at present, only one side of the complex is open to the public. The site was occupied in the 3rd century BC, but most of the structures standing today, date from the 7th – the 11th centuries.

Chichen Itza

At its height, Chichen Itza was home to Mayan people from all areas of the Yucatan Peninsula. The city exhibits many architectural styles reminiscent of central Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenes styles found in the Northern Maya lowlands. Rising from the dense jungles of the Yucatan, Chichen Itza grew to prominence from the 6th century A.D. onward. By the 10th century, Chichen Itza was a sprawling city with a dense trade network that reached as far as the Caribbean coastline. A center of religious fervor, the city’s temples and sacred cenotes attracted pilgrims across the Mayan world. Chichen Itza fell into ruin after the overthrow of the elite in the 12th century and the onset of the Mayan decline. By the time the Spanish conquistadors first laid eyes on a long-abandoned Chichen Itza in the 16th century, there was little that hadn’t been swallowed by the forest. Enjoy the visit to the magnificent Maya Ruin on the Romance in Yucatan tour.

Holbox Island

Holbox Island is a small piece of heaven on earth on the Yucatan Peninsula, northwest of Cancun, Mexico. Only 26 miles long and one mile wide, this island comprises 22 miles of white and coral sand beach. It is separated from the mainland coast of Mexico by a shallow lagoon that gives sanctuary to thousands of flamingos, pelicans, and other exotic birds and creatures. The island is a 40-minute ferry ride off the northern coast of the Yucatan peninsula that Cancun calls home. Isla Holbox is intimate, romantic, and wild. The marine life here is plentiful and diverse. It is easy to find whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins, lobsters, octopuses, eagle rays, and sea turtles. Holbox is ideal for those who appreciate nature and the tranquility that is unique in the world. A great effort has been made to preserve the island as a virgin tourist destination, distant from mass tourism. That is why it is perfect for a romantic, special, once-in-a-lifetime Isla Holbox romantic vacation. The vibe is more barefoot on the beach than late nights at the club. Holbox is also a stunning romantic destination, with clear green-blue waters in every direction and cute boutique hotels.
