Today is arrival day in Arica! We will visit the plaza, San Marcos Cathedral, Fisherman's wharf, Casa de la Cultura, and enjoy a panoramic view from El Morro. We will then head to the Azapa Valley to visit the Alto Ramírez geoglyphs and The Cerro Sagrado with its archaeological museum of San Miguel. Here you can see an exhibition of the oldest mummies in the world, the Chinchorro Mummies. We will continue the journey through the desert with a stop in the Chaca Valley arriving at the Codpa Oasis. Once here, you can visit the small town of Guañacagua. 

Codpa Valley is renowned for its fertile lands, due to its mild climate and the Vítor River. Here you can find all kinds of fruits, such as guavas, citrus fruits and grapes, used to make Pintatani wine. The town of Codpa is of pre-Hispanic origin and was inhabited by the chief of the "Altos de Arica". The San Martín church, dating back to the fifteenth century, and the Codpa Valley Museum are the main attractions.

Today we will head out to the foothills of The Andes, stopping at the Ofragía and Cerro Blanco petroglyphs. We will then head through the towns of Vitor, Tignamar and Belén. In the afternoon, we will make a stop in Chapiquiña and Putre, villages dedicated to livestock farming and agriculture, with fantastic terracing, still used today.

Today we will head out to the Lauca National Park, close to the Bolivian border and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Here we can appreciate a wide variety of Andean flora and fauna. We will stop at the ceremonial town of Parinacota, famous for its 17th century Baroque-Mestizo style church. We will then visit the Cotacotani Lagoons and The Chungara Lake, which is one of the highest in the world. It is also blessed with spectacular views of the Twin Payachatas volcanos Parinacota and Pomerape. You can hike around the lake to take in the magnificent scenery. Jurasi hot springs visit is an optional stop off before we return to Putre for the evening.

Today, we will traverse the northern highlands of The Andes, visiting protected areas such as Las Vicuñas National Reserve, Surire National Monument, Lauca National Park and Isluga National Park. We will make a stop in the towns of Ancuta and Guallatiri next to the active volcano of the same name.  We will then head to the Surire salt flats to see the nesting sites the Andean Flamingos. Then we can enjoy a soak in the Polloquere Hot springs overlooking the Salt flats. In the afternoon, we will visit the Andean towns of Enquelga, Isluga and The Aravilla Lagoon, arriving at Colchane in the early evening.

After breakfast, we will leave Colchane, leaving the altiplano behind us and head to the desert passing through the villages of Cariquima and Chuzmiza, with its unique terraces. We will then head to the Giant of Atacama, an 86 metre high geoglyph, etched into the Cerro Unita and dating back to the Tiwanaku civilization. In the afternoon, we will visit Humberstone and Santa Laura, walking down its now secluded streets. We can visit the theatre, the market and its church. At the end of the day, we will arrive in the city of Iquique, where we will spend the evening.

After breakfast, we will leave the hotel and take you to the Iquique airport for your onward flight to your next exciting destination!

Excellent experience

We have spent 10 days in Peru on a school trip and Valencia Travel was the local partner. We were very pleased with the itinerary and the support from our guides and drivers. We spent several days in Cusco, then went to a local Cacao Farm and after of course Aguas Calientes. Everyone in the group had a great time and our guide Ronaldo tried his best to ensure all needs were met.

Best travel guide and company for our family trip to Machu Picchu

Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) did the short Inka trail to Machu Picchu and our guide Carlos Caceres was the best! He made our trip to Machu Picchu very special and memorable. He was very experienced, kind, patient and always made sure we were taken care of. The trip went so smoothly because of Carlos. From making sure we got on trains to buses to trail crossings to restaurants in town, he was always on top of it. Highly recommend Valencia Travel Cusco and Carlos as your guide. We were grateful for everything.

Absolutely fantastic,great value for cost,wonderful sites, amazing guide,Carlos Carceras.Every aspect was 10/10.The guide was one of the best i have ever experienced,his knowledge was astounding,his organizational skills amazing and even more his care and respect gor the group was way beyond expectations. Machu Pichu and Rainbow Mountain was oit of this world!

Amazing experience, lifetime of memories!

The trip was incredible! The views were spectacular, the history is amazing and we could not have asked for more. The trail was challenging, but it was worth it. Our guide Miguel made sure everything went smoothly and he made the difficult journey a joy for me and my family! Highly recommend for any family looking for an adventure!
