8 Day Pacific Nature

After breakfast, we will head south along Costa Rica's beautiful Pacific coast, Dominical appears amidst deep vegetation, deserted beaches, a cool blue ocean, and fantastic waves. The rainforest, whales, waterfalls, and natural prowess of the area are characteristic of this beach town in Costa Ballena, The big waves are ideal for surfing, nature and adventure tours can be taken from Dominical to the neighbouring rainforests and spectacular coastal areas such as the Ballena Marine National Park and the Nauyaca waterfalls. Near Dominical, the small towns of Uvita and Ojochal, allow visitors to fully enjoy this wonderful part of the country. 

The Ballena National Marine Park is one of the most unique reserves in Costa Rica. Located just offshore from South Puntarenas, the Ballena National Marine Park protects more than 13,000 acres of ocean and 15km of coastline. Comprised of mangrove forests, coral reefs and untouched beaches, the national park is perfect for viewing remote wildlife while escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Today we will head out in a 4×4, through 8 km of trails, to enjoy the stunning beauty of the landscape, as well as observe the wonders of this tropical rain forest. We will arrive at the ranch, where you can enjoy a delicious snack, as well as see the White Face monkeys, Peacocks, Guatusas and other animals, native to the area. We will then continue to the Nauyaca Waterfalls, where you can swim and enjoy the 2 waterfalls and the spectacular landscape. The return journey includes a typical Costa Rican lunch and coffee from the area of Pérez Zeledón. Beautiful mountains, in the heart of the country, give way to the Savegre River, considered one of the country's cleanest. Exotic flora and fauna, protected areas and national parks are some of the main attractions in this spectacular natural zone. This is a favourite spot for bird watchers and those interested in authentic rural country living. The highlands and valleys are excellent fruit-producing regions.

Today we will head out for a unique rafting experience. Our guides are locally born and internationally trained, offering a personalized experience of a lifetime. Perfect for watching the shorebirds along the riverside, the Savegre River plummets down through some of the most remote parts of Costa Rica. It travels through a series of National Parks and protected areas before it joins forces with the Rio Division. These 2 rivers form the Lower Savegre River and the 13-kilometre stretch is composed of class II & III rapids. There are over 15 short rapids that will get you pretty wet and offer excellent white water rafting.

Manuel Antonio National Park was founded in 1972 when the people of Costa Rica decided to preserve the area for future generations. This is one of the most beautiful and bio-diverse areas in the world. Although this is the country’s smallest national park, the stunning beauty and diversity of wildlife in its 683 hectares is unequalled. Manuel Antonio contains a wonderful combination of rainforest, beaches, and coral reefs. These beaches are the most beautiful in the country, perfect for snorkelling. The lush rainforest is home to sloths, iguanas, the rare squirrel monkeys and millions of colourful little crabs.  Its varied fauna with 109 species of mammals and 184 bird species, attracts thousands of visitors each year and can be found just south of Quepos on the Pacific Coast. It is so popular because of its expansive white sand beaches backed by an evergreen forest that grows right up to the high tide line. 

Today we will visit the Carara National Park, covering 5,242-hectares. The amazing diversity of flora and fauna makes it a must-visit on any Costa Rica trip. Named after the Huetar word for crocodile, this national park is home to several ecosystems such as marshlands, lagoons, and gallery forests. With a fantastic array of wildlife on display, we can appreciate monkeys, crocodiles, armadillos, peccaries, waterfowls, opossums, sloths, boas, agouti, kinkajou, tayra, margay cats, jaguars, whitetail deer and ocelots. The birdlife, reptiles and amphibian species are just as diverse, and The Carara National Park is one of the few places where visitors can get to see the rare Scarlet Macaws, Jacamars, and Trogons. We will then head back to the hotel for the evening.

Today is the final day of the tour. We will collect you from the hotel and take you to the airport for your flight back home or onto your next exciting destination!
