Trip Overview
The Colombian Massif also called Nudo de. Almaguer, is a mountain range covering the departments of Cauca, Huila and Nariño. The massif contains 362 high mountain lagoons, 13 alpine tundra ecosystems and several other ecosystems rich in flora and fauna. Very few people have traversed the mountains of this region because it is covered by rugged terrain and an impenetrable and cold environment, both of which are natural guardian preserving the water sources that is the water source for half of Colombia before emptying into the sea. This incredible region is one of the most unspoiled regions of Colombia and the perfect extension for nature lovers who want to get off the beaten- track

Day by day schedule
Day 01 -San Agustín - Quinchana
At 7 am, we will leave the town of San Agustin to go to the village of Quinchana. We will start our trek to the San Antonio farm at the Andean mountains' peak and surrounded by exotic orchids. We can marvel at the beauty of the river Magdalena from parts of the trail and after 5 or so hours hiking, we will arrive at a rural house where we will spend the night.
Day 02 -San Antonio - Laguna de Magdalena -Loyola
After breakfast, we will head to La Magdalena Lake, the source of the Magdalena River in the Puracé National Park. This is a “Páramo” ecosystem, which means it is very high above sea level formed of tundra ecosystems and with vegetation adapted to cold weather conditions. This beautiful landscape is a protected area due to its unique environmental importance. In the afternoon we will head towards the rural house in Loyola, where we will spend the evening
Day 03 -Loyola - Laguna Santiago - San Antonio
We will start the day bright and early to begin our return walk through the moor, passing by the San Antonio lagoon, arriving back to the town of San Antonio for dinner.
Day 04 -San Antonio - San Agustín
After breakfast, we will say goodbye to the Colombian massif as we head back to the beautiful quaint town of San Agustín. This marks the end of this incredible journey.
