The Hato La Aurora is a Private Natural Reserve and can best be described as the Colombian version of the Brazilian Pantanal for its untouched and remote experiences. This means that there is a much better chance to see the native wildlife of the area. It is a fascinating place to get off the beaten track and get back to nature and traditional culture. Accommodation: There is 3-star accommodation at the Park; however, there is no Internet and only refreshing cold water showers. We can guarantee that you will feel comfortable and relaxed for this perfect digital detox!
Today we will leave Bogota airport, for a flight to Yopal. On arrival, we will be met by our guide and a 4x4 vehicle to travel to the Eco-hotel Juan Solito. Along the way, we can appreciate the stunning landscapes and a variety of animal species. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a short boat ride to watch the sunset and enjoy the native local fauna.
After breakfast, we will enjoy a short hike to the Hato La Aurora, just an hour and a half away from the hotel. This is one of the main attractions in the area as it is the model for coexistence between the local wildlife, vegetation and traditional cattle herds. We will head out in a 4x4 jeep or by horse, whichever you choose! We will be able to see capybaras, white-tailed deer, alligators, cattle, wild horses, wild pigs, and many native bird species, such as the Aruco, Garzones, her...
After a hearty breakfast, we will set out on horseback to ride through the lands of the Hato, and take part in all the farm's associated activities and literally spend the day as a cowboy! If you prefer, there is the option to walk or ride on the trails near the hotel and learn about the different native plant varieties and some of their traditional uses. There will also be the opportunity to spot birds and howler monkeys, which live in the area. In the afternoon, we can go fishing for a relaxing and fun activity.
Our final day will see us heading back to the Yopal airport for your flight to Bogotá. Upon arrival, we will take you to your hotel and say our final goodbyes!
