Ushuaia is the closest city to Antarctica and a traveller’s hub for tours of the Antarctic, the Magellan straight and where Cruise ships dock for a quick onshore visit. Summer is perfect for trekking, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing and astounding tours along the Beagle Canal, Cape Horn, and even the Argentine Antarctica. Found in a building that was once a prison for notorious criminals and political prisoners, the museum exhibits archaeological artifacts, model ships, and historical collections of Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego artefacts.

Wildlife Tours
The area is amazing for unique wildlife encounters, such as the Tour De Los Lobos to observe sea lions, the penguin rookery to see these comical birds in their natural habitat, and Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, Los Pajero’s Island and Bird Island, for many bird species. Martillo Island is home to a rookery of Magellan Penguins, which can be found during the summer months.

Australis Cruise
The Via Australis cruise sails through the Beagle Channel, navigating the Magellan straight, the Beagle Channel and Cape Horn, as it explores one of the most beautiful virgin areas in the world, Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. There are two different expeditions either a 3 or 4 night programme from Ushuaia to Punta Arenas and the return journey, during the summer months of September to April.

Tierra del Fuego National Park, was founded in 1960 and borders the Sierra de Injoo Goiyin, also called Beauvoir, starting from Lago Fagnano in the north to the Beagle Channel on the southern edge of the park. Penguin Rookery
From Don Eduardo Arturo Brisighelli pier, sailing southeast along Ushuaia Bay and the Beagle Channel you will visit the Bridges Archipelago and Alicia Island, where it is possible to observe many bird species endemic to this region, like the Blue-Eyed Cormorant, the Sooty Albatross, Skuas, the Steamer Duck and the Alakush.

Spend the night on this working farm and visit "The oldest Estancia on Tierra del Fuego”, built in 1886 on the narrow peninsula overlooking the Beagle Channel. Its founder, the missionary Thomas Bridges, was given the land by the Argentine Congress for his work with the local indigenous people and for rescuing the victims of a number of shipwrecks in the channel.

Estancia Remolino
This ranch is situated on the north coast of the Beagle Channel is one of the oldest ranches in the region. In 1898, during the presidency of General Roca, Remolino ranch was given to the family of John Lawrence in thanks for the cultural activities undertaken by that family with the local, indigenous people.
