As guests, there are various activities within an hour of the lodge: They range from cultural and ethnic excursions to ancient archaeological sites and the sacred grounds of Alkaya – the home of the ancient mommies - to high altitude hikes or the nearby Tunupa volcano (5321m), amidst red and brown hues of coloured earth. The surrounding area is spectacularly stunning!

You may also visit the local quinoa fields or help out the llama farmers and their herds for a totally interactive and unique way to understand the local culture, who’s dedication is more than obvious to fight the extreme conditions and make a living from it. 

You may take part in a Sunrise hike, followed by a breakfast on the tip of Fish Island (Incahuasi), surrounded by giant cacti and chinchillas as a unique way to start the day. The sunset drives will allow you to catch the last rays of light over the salt flats and are spectacular every time, especially when comfortably installed with a glass of wine or a cocktail prepared at the domes. 

During the rainy season, the salar turns into a thin lake where one can paddle, canoe or simply enjoy a photography session, as the endless clouds, reflect onto the surface of the watery salt flats.

In the evening, the sky seems to open up and share their light overhead. You can even stargaze with the telescope for spectacular views of the milky way. The salar really is a place of endless possibilities.
