This 4 day trek is an excursion from Quito to head out of the city and get on some of the impressive trekking trails close by. This trail begins in the Tambo community to Papallacta, better known as "El Camino del Cóndor". The trail crosses past the Antisana volcano, the Sincholagua mountain and finishing in the Cotopaxi National Park and is the perfect off the beaten track destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital.

We will leave Quito, driving down the road that will take us to the Jungle, just like Francisco de Orellana, who discovered the Amazon river in Colonial times. We will we pass over 4200 metres elevation as we arrive to the trailhead near Papallacta. After breakfast, we will leave the volcano lake to trek to the Santa Lucia River. Today's hike will take you across the high Paramo, the perfect place to see Andean Eagles and Condors. After a lunch stop, we will continue on our way, hiking through beautiful countryside near the Antisana mountain with its spectacular glacier. We leave the Santa Lucia river after a hearty breakfast and start our hike to the El Carmen River. Along the way, we will cross an extensive flat area with a fantastic surrounding view of the Andean hills and the Mica Lake. This is the perfect place to spot the Andean Eagles and Condors. After lunch, we will continue to hike uphill to our campsite for the evening, at the El Carmen River.
The final days’ hike will take us through stunning countryside, the habitat for condors, eagles, llamas and other Andean fauna. We will pass by the base of the colourful Sincholagua mountain, formed from red and yellow rocks, due to the natural minerals typical for Volcanos in the Andes.
