Trip Overview
Paraty is a perfectly preserved Portuguese coastal town steeped in colonial history. The streets are narrow and cobbled and its buildings, quintessentially colonial, dating back to the golden era of the country. Paraty in the native Tupi language means “river of fish” and the Paraty Bay, with its wild, untouched beaches and islands, is one of the most beautiful places on the Brazilian coast. Its crystal clear, calm waters and its colourful shoals of fish, are perfect for snorkelling and diving. Why not add this extension onto your Rio trip for a different authentic Brazilian experience?

Day by day schedule
Day 1 -Rio de Janeiro - Paraty
Today we will collect you from your Rio hotel and we will travel for 5 hours in a private vehicle to the stunning coastal town of Paraty. The pousada Literária is located in the historical centre of Paraty, surrounded by cultural richness and natural exuberance and occupies a fully restored colonial house. The pousada offers little extravagances, such as an anytime, anywhere breakfast and a choice of essential oils for treatments at Paraty’s first boutique spa. Cool off in the pool or enjoy a gourmet picnic at their farm, which is home to the region’s 460 bird species. The hotel also owns a private schooner for you to explore the idyllic beaches of nearby Saco do Mamanguá. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a walking tour of Paraty through its cobbled streets, to learn more about its unique history.
Day 2 -Paraty
After breakfast, we will enjoy a full day private motorboat tour of the Paraty bay. In the evening we will return to the pousada and enjoy its facilities.
Day 3 -Paraty - Rio de Janeiro
Today we will leave Paraty and head back to Rio de Janeiro. We will take you the airport for your international flight or to your Rio hotel, if you are staying for a few more days.
