Trip Overview
Because Bolivia is such a small country, many people choose to visit as an extension from either Peru or Chile. This is the perfect way to visit Bolivia and experience its customs, geography, culture and uniqueness, especially if you are travelling from Northern Chile or the Atacama Desert. Experience the salt flats of Uyuni, the vibrant city of La Paz and of course the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca. This is a great way to take in an extra country on your way from Chile to Peru and ticking off another bucket list item along the way!

Type of Service: All tours are private, but a minimum of 4 people are needed for the Uyuni section of the trip so you may choose to join another group.

Day by day schedule
Day 01 -LA PAZ
Arrival: We begin our day with a city tour of La Paz, on foot, by cable car and a private vehicle: On arrival, we will take the Cable Car, offering a fantastic view over the city of La Paz, taking us into the heart of the magical city, surrounded by mountains and protected by the snow-capped mountain of Illimani.
La Paz is an eclectic, mind-blowing city. Our full-day tour will take you on a cultural and historical journey around this colourful city, nestled in the mountains and where we can enjoy its fast-paced vibe and its ever-changing energy. Explore colonial streets, squares, The Cathedral, the Witches' Market, the Government Palaces and take in the views from its different viewpoints, as well as the cable car. Sample salteñas, a savoury Bolivian baked pastry and then stop off for a visit at the impressive Museum of Ethnography and Folklore which showcases regional diversity and unique characteristics of the many cultures of Bolivia. You will also have the chance to visit Mamani Mamani Gallery, where you can meet Robert Mamani. This Aymaran artist is the most important Bolivian artist, his indigenous background is represented in his artwork. In his gallery, he will welcome us to an amazing explanation of his native art and culture. After lunch, we will visit the Valley of the Moon, a mysterious rock formation to the south of the city made of clay formations created by the constant wind and water erosion of this mountainous area.
Day 02 -UYUNI
Today we have an early flight from La Paz to Uyuni. On arrival, at 11 am approx, we will set out for the salt flats and pass through a small settlement called Colchani, where the locals process salt to this day. We will leave really early to appreciate the sunrise in the middle of the salt flats to see it’s”eyes” salt mountains and salt piles. We will then continue on to the middle of the Salt Flats to see the lagoons "eyes", salt mountains and salt blocks. This unique route takes us into one of the world's most isolated areas with a glittering, white landscape for company. We will then head to the Isla del Pescado (Fish Island) or Incahuasi Island to look at giant cacti, birds and vizcachas (chinchillas) that have made their home on this island. We will then head off to our Salt Hotel for the evening!
Day 03 -UYUNI
We will leave very early in the morning from the Salt Hotel to see the spectacular sunrise over the salt flats. We will then head on towards the Tunupa Volcano- the so-called “guardian” of the salt flats, visit the Chantani museum and see the Coquesa mummies, all found within this truly unique landscape.
At midday, we will stop for a buffet of delicious local produce in the middle of the salt flats, and then in the afternoon, we take one of the hundreds of routes across the salt flats to watch the sun go down in a blaze of intense colours. Our team will be waiting for you in the middle of the salt flats with an amazing table of wine, cheese and other local products.
Day 04 -UYUNI – AVAROA NATIONAL RESERVE
Bright and early, we will drive from Uyuni to the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve, leaving the salt flats behind us and heading to the region's deserts and lakes. We will pass through the majestic highland area, to look out at spectacular mountains and whimsical landscapes. This is where the native llamas and vicuñas welcome you to winding streams and offer an insight into the daily life of the locals of the area.
We will continue on through the Siloli Desert and pass the Blanca, Honda, Hedionda and Chiarcota Lagoons to relax and have lunch. As we continue on through the desert to the geysers, Sol de Mañana, the Stone Tree of the Dali desert and the Laguna Verde, on our way to San Pedro de Atacama, where our team in Chile will be waiting for you.
