Luxury “El Chepe” Express

After breakfast, we will head to the El Fuerte railway station on to Posada Barrancas, where you will board the world-famous Chihuahua al Pacifico “El Chepe”  train for a stunning ride into the Sierra Madre Mountains. In your First-Class carriage, you will enjoy exceptional service whilst appreciating the awe-inspiring views over these impressive mountains.  

We will start the day with an invigorating walk to a lookout point over the Otero Canyon. We will then explore a Tarahumara cave house before visiting the local ‘fertility rock’, revered for its life-giving properties. 

Back on El Chepe Express, we will travel the Copper Canyon railway to Creel, the frontier logging and mining town which is now a tourism centre. In the evening, we will settle into our  suites at the luxury hotel in Creel, located in the heart of the Sierra Tarahumara.  

Today is the day we descend the switchbacks into the depths of the Batopilas Canyon, passing through the Copper and La Bufa canyons. Arriving at Batopilas, we will arrive at the hotel which looks out over the Batopilas River. The town boasts ruins of the Sheppard Hacienda and incredible colonial architecture. You can also enjoy a beer with the locals at the Swinging Bridge Bar. In the evening, enjoy the delights of the Riverside Lodge, which is surrounded by cliffs and cactus-studded hillsides.

Enjoy a full day in the picturesque town of Batopilas. Soak up the history, laze by the river, choose from a number of day hikes, or take a trip to visit the Lost Cathedral of Satevo. We will then return to our lodge for dinner and a good nights rest. 

After an early breakfast, we will climb out of the Batopilas Canyon on the stunning journey back to Creel. You will have a free afternoon to relax or to explore the town. 

You may choose to visit the local crafts cooperative or visit the nearby hot springs. There is plenty to do here! 

Today, we will head to Chihuahua. The afternoon is free for relaxing and visiting the interesting museums and historical sights of this important city. 

Today, we will leave the Chihuahua hotel to head to the airport for the onward flight to Mexico City. We will be taken to the luxury hotel in the city.

Today we will enjoy this cosmopolitan city, including Xochimilco and trajinera, Casa Azul - Frida Kahlo, Zocalo, Palacio Nacional, the cathedral, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Reforma and Chapultepec. 

Today is a Free day to explore the city.

We will take you to the airport for your departing flight home or onto your next exciting destination!
