The capital of Chile is where most people will arrive in the country. The largest city in the country and one of the largest in South America, with a population of 7 million people. The Incas controlled Santiago throughout the 1500's until the Spanish arrived from Cusco in 1540. Today Santiago is a massive city and a central travel hub for many destinations. Having suffered from tectonic activity over the years, the city has always reinvented itself.
