Jalapáo - Adventure and Nature in The Brazilian Savanna

After breakfast at the hotel, our 4 x 4 will collect us to take us to the heart of Jalapão national park. En route, we Will be able to see the Serra da Muriçoca, giving us an idea of the park's immensity. We will make a stop at the Sussuapara Canyon to stretch our legs and enjoy some spectacular views across its lush vegetation. We will then head to the Novo Rio Quilombola community, where we will have lunch and interact with the community members. We Will then head to the dunes to watch the spectacular sunset, typical of the area. We can see the impressive views of the Morro do Saca Trapo, Serra do Espírito Santo y Lagoa das Dunas along the way.

Today we have an optional trek to the Fervedouro “Encontro das Águas”, for those who don’t mind an early morning! This is where the Río Sono and the Río Formiga, with their different colours and water density, converge. We will then return to the pousada for breakfast. After breakfast, we will head off on foot towards the Poços Encantados do Formiga, a series of incredibly blue pools, underneath the Cachoeira do Formiga. We will be able to bathe in the crystal blue waters and lush green tree canopy above us. After lunch in a local restaurant, we will visit a series of hot springs of different sizes, temperatures and floatability. These amazing pools are supplied with hot water from a subterranean source, underneath the river bed, which form these hot springs and their element of floatability  We can enjoy a night time bathe in the amazing pools of Los Poços Encantados do Formiga.

Today we have an optional hike for the more adventurous of us, to the Morro do Jacurutú to see the sunrise over the spectacular savannah. We will then head back to the Pousada for breakfast, after which we can enjoy the Fervedouro das Macaúbas for a relaxing soak. We will then have lunch in a local restaurant. In our 4 x 4 to Cachoeira do Formiga, we will head out in the afternoon for a refreshing soak in its transparent emerald green waters. We will then head to the Fervedouro do Ceiça, to experience the indescribable sensation of floating through the banana plantations. In the evening, we will visit Dona Diva's handicraft shop in the Carrapato, Quilombola community. Later in the evening, we can enjoy a starry sky and a nighttime soak in one of the nearby hot springs.

After breakfast we Will head off to the community of Quilombola do Prata, where we will sample an organic sugarcane juice in the home of Mr Juraci. He will take us on a visit to his back garden patio and explain a little about his traditional way of life. We will then head out for a swim in the Bela Vista Fervedouro, after which, we will hike to Palmas to visit la Serra da Catedral. After a traditional lunch, we will head through the Quilombola community of Taboca to Ponte Alta, one of the most isolated in all of Jalapão. Here, we will learn more about the local products of the area. We will then head to the pousada for dinner and to spend the evening.

Today we will head out to the Encantado Canyon, where we will hike into the canyon for spectacular views of the canyon and its waterfalls. There is an optional activity to hang off the rocks for a different perspective over the canyon. After this visit, we will spend the evening at the pousada in Palma.

Today is our final day after this incredible journey and we will take you to the airport for your onward flight home or on to your next exciting destination!
