Luxurious Ecology- Costa Rica

Today we will head out on a hike through the cloud forest to an amazing waterfall in the area. This is one of the hidden gems of Costa Rica, in a valley between extinct volcanoes, where nature is abundant and remote along its forest trails. There is nothing comparable to witnessing the awe-inspiring power of nature when we see these cascading turquoise waters plummeting into the lake below.

Today we will leave Bajos del Toro and head to the Arenal National Park, home of the impressive lake and spectacular volcano. The Tabacon experience will take us to the hot thermal mineral springs that turn into natural pools and cascades in the middle of the forest. Tabacon features more than 20 natural pools and ponds strategically located along the walking trails of the gardens and provide a nice break from the exploration of flowers and the surprisingly regular sites of local wildlife. We can enjoy the therapeutic properties, soothing and relaxing after a day of outdoor activities in the region. Children find them extremely fun and inviting, and couples and lovers find them mystical and very romantic. As the perfect complement, we can visit The Grand Spa, one of the world's Leading Spas. The Grand Spa has been recognized as one of the top eco-spas in Latin America, with all available and private jacuzzi treatments. 

After breakfast we will visit the centrepiece of the Arenal National Park, the impressive Arenal Volcano. We will combine hiking with a boat trip onto the Arenal lake for the best possible views. Our guide will explain the history of the Volcano and the park plus the array of different plants and animals we will see along the way. We start hiking over the lava flow of the 1992 eruption, passing through the second-growth forest then to the volcanic rocks that were spewed out in1992. On a clear day, we can see spectacular views of the impressive volcano. We will then hike along the “La Peninsula” trail, taking us to Lake Arenal's shores. We pass through lush tropical forests to a lookout tower, offering exceptional panoramic views of the area, including the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. On the lake's shores, we will take a boat ride to a spot known locally as “el tapón” the earth dam that helped form the lake. After this spectacular day, we will head back to the luxury hotel for the evening.

Resembling a movie scene, Rio Celeste is the meeting of two rivers that magically change colour into turquoise and blue. The surrounding nature raw beauty of the area is perfect for honeymooners. The phenomenon is the result of chemical reactions produced by the minerals produced by the Tenorio volcano, which gives the name to the national park and has four volcanic peaks and two craters. Hot springs and waterfalls, abundant flora and fauna add to the magnificence of the landscape. Along the river, we’ll find hot springs as the river curves around tranquil bays, with a waterfall of unique beauty, all surrounded by native flora and fauna. We arrive at the Tenorio Volcano National Park, where we will hike through the tropical rain forest. Our first visit in this special park full of rich ecological wonders will be the spectacular Rio Celeste waterfall. Our final reward is an exquisite Costa Rican typical lunch at the end of our journey, and after that, the ride back to the hotel in La Fortuna in Papagayo. The Papagayo area is formed by spectacular beaches along this part of the northern Pacific Coast in Guanacaste. Formerly part of Nicaragua, before being annexed to Costa Rica in 1824, Guanacaste has a long history as cattle-raising area. Its Sabanero, cowboy culture, still defines the province's personality with traditions, foods and music. While many of Guanacaste’s beaches are coveted by surfers, those on the Gulf of Papagayo are protected, making them great for families with children or honeymooners looking for tranquillity. All of Costa Rica’s beaches are public, but because the Peninsula is gated the beaches here are more secluded. The area is filled with the vibrant bays and inlets, as well as plenty of peace and quiet for those looking to get away from it all in a tropical paradise.

The next few days are free days to take part in the tours and activities of your choice. The area is naturally blessed with an incredible number of activities, or simply kick back and relax in this tropical paradise.

Take a kayaking trip to visit the property’s beaches starting from Laguna Beach to Portuguese Beach. Enjoy the view of the National Park Santa Rosa or the Tenorio Volcano as you sail through the coastal rocks.

Portuguese Beach or to Punta Gorda, one of the best diving and snorkelling spots in the area hit the water with our paddleboards and cruise alongside a variety of sea life. Don’t forget the sunscreen and hat! Snorkelling  at Punta Gorda is one of the best snorkelling and dive areas around and it is right in front of the Beach Cabana. Come into the Adventure Room and gear up with a pair of goggles and fins and brace yourself for the underwater paradise you will encounter. Green sea turtles, Spotted Eagle ray, and a wide array of fish, you will not want to go back inland

Enjoy a cooking class with our chef and learn how to make that cassava dish you fell in love with.

Take a wildlife tour to see beautiful birds like the Turquoise Mot-Mot and the Howler monkeys, we are surrounded by wildlife as soon as you enter the area.

Get your trekking boots and sunscreen on and take a walk with our onsite guide throughout our jungle. Witness the magic of the flora and fauna that surrounds us every day. There are 123 acres of land is a lot of jungle to explore. Go from the top of the Sunset Lounge to Laguna or Portuguese Beach to the heart of the jungle and enjoy the sounds of the surrounding wildlife.

Every day is a beach day in Papagayo. Whether you’re visiting Laguna Beach in front of the Beach Cabana or our almost virgin Portuguese Beach, you can definitely spend the whole day soaking up sun rays and cooling off in the clear ocean water. We have sun chairs available at Laguna beach and can also set up a picnic at Portuguese Beach.

Today we have to leave this tropical paradise and head for our flight to the city of Liberia. We will collect you from the hotel and take you to the airport for our connecting flight to San Jose. On arrival, we will head straight to Silvestre for our final evening in the Costa Rican capital. This amazing restaurant is world-renowned for its Costa Rican cuisine.

Today after breakfast, we will collect you from your hotel to take you to the airport for your flight back home or on to your next exciting destination.
