If you want to get off the beaten track and experience the incredible lush biodiversity of the Costa Rican rain forests well as visit some of the most remote and pristine beaches of the Caribbean coast, then this is the tour for you! In between, we will visit the stunning Pacuare rive for some of the best rafting in the world along crystal clear rivers. Here we will also experience the native indigenous people of the area. This off the beaten track experience will take you away from the tourist crowds and reconnect you with nature, whilst enjoying some incredible rapids along the way!

On arrival at Juan San Jose International Airport, our staff will be waiting for you to take you to the San Jose hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you will have a free afternoon and evening to explore the modern Costa Rican Capital with its bustling commerce and touristic infrastructure, perfect for visitors. San Jose offers various touristic, cultural and natural attractions, like the museums of Costa Rican Art, Gold, Jade, National and Children’s Contemporary Art and Design. The National Theatre and the historical architecture of the buildings and churches close to parks and monuments are worth visiting.
After an early morning pick-up we will head out to the Pacuare River. We will head to the river banks to head out by raft to get to the lodge, set in the middle of the lush rainforest. This river is rated as one of the top rafting rivers in the world and is a must-do. You will raft through incredible primary rainforest on over 25 km of Class III-IV white water. We can appreciate cascading waterfalls, lush rainforest, exotic plants, birds and other animals, and exciting rapids which will make an action-packed tropical adventure, full of rich experiences that you will remember for a lifetime.
Today, our guide will take us for a 5 hours hike to the Cabecar Indigenous reserve. This indigenous community live in the middle of the forest and the only way out is by hours of hiking through the forest. A variety of activities characterize the Cabécar livelihoods today. These include small-scale agriculture, hunting, fishing, and harvesting wild flora for food, natural medicine and housing materials. The natural environment of the people takes place in two realms: the ‘near space’ in and around the house or village, where human activity has modified the landscape; and the ‘far space,’ where natural, primary forests remain unchanged and where human activity must coexist harmoniously with the environment.
Today we will venture out on the most exciting part of the river. We will spend the day rafting on class 4+ river sections, heading from the lodge to the town of Siquirres. We will then head to the South Caribbean coast, where we will spend the next few days.
We will enjoy 3 full day to relax and enjoy the many beaches in the area. We recommended you renting a bike and exploring on your own the beaches and nature of the area. Puerto Viejo, Tortuguero, Cahuita, and Manzanillo are just a few of these incredible Caribbean beaches. These beaches are idyllic; however, a full day of sunny beach weather is rare. But the rain will pass quickly and leave spectacular skies for stunning sunsets.

Today we depart for the 4 hour drive back to San Jose airport. We will make sure you arrive in time for your international flight back home or on to your next exciting destination!
