Take a snorkelling or diving trip in one of the many bays of Paraty. Boat rides are stunning and fun. The beaches are stunning with water sports aplenty. Or head inland to the waterfalls of Pedra Branca and Andorinhas or go hiking along Caminho do Ouro- The Gold Trail. There are many trails through the Atlantic Rainforest to remote tropical beaches, to relax and enjoy the scenery.
We will then head over to Ilha Grande’s Asalem, a rustic seaside hideaway in the dense Atlantic Forest with its magical atmosphere of candles, gas-lit lamps and rich marine fauna. The design concept of Asalem is one of a personal sanctuary combined with respect for the environment of the island.
A free day on Isla Grande to explore the stunning beaches. Visit The Blue Lagoon or Lagoa Azul for breath-taking snorkelling. Freguesia de Santana Beach for its crystalline waters and shoals of fish perfect for snorkelers and divers, Japariz Beach and its spectacular island views and Saco do Ceu, for the idyllic ocean scene.
Today we leave the idyllic Ilha Grande for the better known and impressive beaches of Rio de Janeiro. We will settle into the Arena Leme Hotel, one of the most environmentally friendly hotels in the city. They actively promote reduced water usage, waste reduction, eco-friendly decor and partnerships with a number of environmental programmes, positively contributing to the reduction of pollution in the big city.
