There are certain countries in the world, that are universally known for a number of different reasons and Brazil is one of these countries; Whether it be football in Brazil, carnivals in Brazil, or the statue of Christ the redeemer, EVERYONE has heard of this country. Officially, the Federal Republic of Brazil is the largest country in South America, and occupies half of the continent's territory. It is also the fifth largest country in the world. The Republic stretches for approximately 4,350 km from north to south and forms a vast irregular triangle covering a wide range of tropical and subtropical landscapes. Most of the inhabitants of Brazil are concentrated along the east coast, and why wouldn’t they? Brazil boasts some of the best beaches in the world….. which brings me straight onto the topic of why visit Brazil?

Natural Wonders

What can we say about the Amazon River and its surrounding rainforest and of course the Iguaçu Falls?  These are just some of the famous natural attractions in a country that has 62 National Parks and hundreds of conservation areas. Brazil proudly boasts several records for its wildlife numbers and biodiversity. This was a result of the urgent need to preserve endangered natural species and has inspired a surge in ecotourism and responsible travel initiatives. This effort is making it a possibility for more travellers to visit Brazil in a sustainable manner and preserving the best of Brazil for its local communities, flora and fauna.

The Brazilian nation boasts some truly vibrant towns and cities in addition to its unparalleled natural splendor. With magnificent destinations to visit such as Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Florianapolis Buzios and many more smaller towns such as Bonito, Paraty and the paradisical Isla Grande, there really is a city or town for all preferences. There are a number of cultural attractions, hotels, restaurants, and incredible night life to keep even the most active of us, super busy.

Brazilian People & Culture

For hundreds of years, Brazilian culture has been a melting pot of people with very diverse ethnic and cultural heritages. A glorious mix of diversity is imprinted in the culture that has resulted in purely Brazilian souvenirs, celebrations, and traditions such as the bossa nova, capoeira, and of course, the yellow football jersey. Strong cultural identity is to be admired through the people of indigenous origin as well as African-Brazilians, who are reaffirming their sense of identity through their rich heritage. With so much cultural diversity, it's safe to say that the people from this country are normally friendly to foreign visitors and travellers.

Celebrations and Events

Carnaval is a BIG thing in Brazil and because it's a countrywide celebration, smaller, up-and-coming cities are gradually attracting more and more attention in addition to “celebration” pioneers of carnaval- Rio, Salvador, Recife, and Olinda. It has become a travellers pastime to search for newer and more understated destinations to see the world famous carnaval, the unknown the better! There are also other celebratory times of the year that form part of the  Brazilian calendar, for example, many international travellers have discovered that Reveillon, the Brazilian New Year, is as much fun as Carnival.

Brazilian Cuisine

The Brazilian barbecue has gained international attention from upscale restaurants around the world. Picture open fire pits tended in the fields of Rio Grande do Sul by “gauchos” or South American cowboys, to get a taste of what a Brazilian barbecue is truly like. Of course, the Brazilian food does not just revolve around a barbecue. Excellent chefs, inspired by the country's diverse native ingredients and regional traditions, are writing a whole new chapter in Brazilian food. One of the best ways to get in touch with this diversity is through one of Brazil's many food festivals at one of the many authentic restaurants.

Travel-Friendly Weather

In Brazil, visiting at the right time of the year can make or break your vacation. Always check the weather in the region you want to visit first (Brazil is big!!) and the time of year can improve your chances of finding a place where the sky is blue and the temperatures invite you to be outdoors. Autumn and winter can also be a great time to travel to Brazil. Imagine cool sunrises, warm and sunny days and clear, chilly nights, that are perfect for cuddling by the fireplace.

Tourism is a Priority to Brazil

Brazil's Ministry of Tourism and state governments have been investing in their towns and cities to make visiting as easy as possible for tourists.  That translates into better roads, more jobs, an improvement of community life and many other benefits to improve the tourism infrastructure. This in turn, is attracting a lot more visitors and are turning Brazil into a very desirable destination.
