Brazil is the largest country in South America. No matter how much time you have, you can quite possibly not do everything on offer in the country in just one trip. Whether you prefer the beach or fancy visiting some of Latin America's most important UNESCO World Heritage sites, Brazil is one of the best countries to visit in South America for iconic sights.

Sugarloaf was one of the first places encountered by the Portuguese arriving in Rio de Janeiro in 1808 and offers a breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay. Take the cable car up to the top, and once you come there, there are various things to see, including a park with hidden paths and lovely garden areas. Christ the Redeemer statue is one of the main reasons thousands of people visit Rio de Janeiro. The UNESCO site offers massive rewards as the view over Rio de Janeiro from the point of the statue is truly magnificent.

Iguazu Falls

Regarding wonders, visiting Iguazu Falls is an experience for your Brazil bucket list and one of the 7 Wonders of The World. Iguazu Falls is a must-see in Brazil, and you can cross the border into Argentina to see these giant falls if you have enough time. Originating from the Iguazu River, these falls are a collection of over 200 individual waterfalls, are higher than Niagara Falls, and are twice as wide. Foz de Iguazu is the point of access on the Brazilian side and offers to lodge to travelers seeking to experience the magnitude of the falls. Walkways have been built so visitors can see the spectacle up close, but those looking for more can schedule a helicopter tour. The recommended time for visiting the falls is the spring and fall to avoid the heat and humidity in the summer and the lower water levels in the winter.
